WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A SCENAR TREATMENT

On your first visit, a full case / medical history is taken. I will then discuss the reason for your visit, the level of pain your experiencing and then we will discuss your recommended treatment plan.

The SCENAR device will then be applied to your skin until you feel a tingling sensation. It will not be painful. As the device goes through treatment cycles, you'll feel a tingling or prickly sensation on your skin. This feels different in each place and between different SCENAR devices and treatment modes. A general zone treatment may be given first.

The treatment time is approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour for most people. You will be encouraged to tell me of any changes you feel/sensations you experience. The aim is to achieve a change in your pain or functional problem during the treatment.

The frequency of SCENAR treatment will be adjusted to your individual circumstances. With acute recent injuries or conditions it can be beneficial to have treatments every few days initially. In acute conditions, progress can often be made quite quickly preventing an ongoing chronic condition. You may need between 2 and 10 treatments.

Chronic conditions may take longer and could require treatments over a few months. Or you may want to hire a SCENAR device to continue treatment at home. (see SCENAR hire)

The total number of SCENAR treatments required depends on the nature and duration of your condition, your overall level of health, and the degree of pain and urgency. For something as simple as a routine muscle-related back ache, one or two SCENAR sessions may be enough to get total relief. For more chronic conditions, a typical course of treatment is 6 to 12 sessions, sometimes followed by regular preventive treatments.

SCENAR treatment often delivers remarkable pain reduction and recovery of mobility. It's non- evasive, gentle and stimulates your own natural pharmacy by encouraging neuro-peptides, including serotonin - our own naturally produced pain killer to the area of pain.

In occasional cases, some people may feel worse after the treatment. Please do not worry, it's a good sign! It indicates that your body is responding quickly, and a change is occurring. This is what we are looking for after your first consultation. There are techniques that can be used with SCENAR to manage this. Also, in some cases, pain is resolved on the first treatment. As said earlier in general, acute pain is resolved quicker than chronic pain.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR A SCENAR TREATMENT

 

Do not bath or shower or use any creams or lotions for two hours before or after a treatment. As SCENAR works with the natural oils and substances on your skin.

Alcohol and recreational drugs block the brain's ability to process information and should therefore not be used 24 hrs before and after treatment.

If possible wear cotton rich, silk or linen, a gown can be provided if necessary.
